Problems with French translation
Together with English French is one of the world’s most influential and important languages. It is used as an official language in many international organisations, for instance, in all of the United Nations agencies. In the European Union 129 million people claim to be able to speak French, of whom 72 million are native speakers and 69 million are second-language or foreign language speakers. From the linguistic point of view French is a very complicated and difficult language. It is very descriptive and idiomatic, what makes translations very demanding. When translating French, it is very important to also capture the style, register and cultural meaning of the original text.
